What is Perfection?

With the start of the new year, there are so many different adverts doing the rounds, that can make us feel that just because it is January, we are going to be able to make all the changes we want to make and reach all the resolutions we have been setting for the last few years.

Don’t get me wrong, I think that January is a great time to reflect, set intentions / goals and have the motivation of a fresh start but I do feel that a lot of the adverts and hype that does the rounds can actually make us feel like we need to achieve perfect lives, with a perfect body, perfect relationships, a perfect job, perfect house, perfect everything. It can also distract us from focusing on what we really want and need in our lives.

This has led me to want to answer the question “Why are we always striving to be perfect?”

Dealing with stress during the festive season

With the holiday season on our doorsteps I have started to think about how stressful this time of the year can be for many of us.
It doesn’t always feel like the most wonderful time of the year! What with feeling the pressure to finish off as much as possible at work, buy everyone gifts in overcrowded shops, having extra events in our schedules, organising our own celebrations for Christmas and New Years as well as many people travelling, just the extra mental load is enough to cause a little bit of anxiety to creep up.

How setting boundaries changed my life

Having boundaries is one of the most important elements to managing stress but I find as women we often neglect putting them in place or enforcing them out of the fear of disappointing others. We put so much pressure on ourselves to be the best at everything and trying to please others that we end up feeling used or like our needs are not being met.

Personal boundaries are guidelines, rules or limits that a person creates to identify reasonable, safe and permissible ways for other people to behave towards them and how they will respond when someone passes those limits.
